Shimojima, part-Japanese-part-Chinese-American, is based in that city with the famous yellow cabs. He likes to think his background is unique: classical music performance and composition. His passion for film music is what led him to visual and character-driven storytelling, and now, he's a writer, director, and video editor searching for ways to mix showmanship with a heavy dose of psychological introspection. Fun.
After graduating NYU's Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Dramatic Writing, he joined the high-profile digital agency R/GA, where he worked as an editor on numerous campaigns you probably saw and thought were cool, while writing/directing his own narrative short films, which he hopes are just as cool. (They've even played at international film festivals.)
He is an AICP award nominee for his Arena Water Instinct spot. He is the cinematographer and editor of the webseries “Downsized,” one of YouTube’s Top 10 Made-for-the-Web shows. His spec spot for the Young Cannes Lions was the sole spot picked for broadcast television. His directing and editing clients have included Audio-Technica, US Lacrosse, Nike, JACK Casino, Casino Arizona, Zurich Insurance, Bose, Shiseido, Facebook, Google, A&E, and JCPenney. He is preparing his debut feature film. He really likes to swim. He really hates holding umbrellas in the rain. He adores chocolate covered almonds. He digs art that is passionate and romantic, real and raw, loud, subtle, and not without a touch of humor.
