Rachmaninoff Symphony No.2 Movement 3
It's pretty difficult to use Rachmaninoff nowadays -- he's lush and uninhibited and would come across very sappy in today's "cooler" climate. But I grew up playing classical piano and composing orchestral music, and these Romantic Era themes continue to stir me. I believe they can have a place in darker movies, so long as they're used knowingly, with a certain nostalgia (and perhaps in homage to movies like Brief Encounter, which heavily used Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto). The main theme in this movement was also tapped for Eric Carmen's "Never Gonna Fall in Love Again".
